TEAM SHOP QUESTIONS

It was the featured items I wanted changed up frequently so that all sellers could make it to the top. The favorites can be changed as often as you would like

p.s. anyone else adding a promotion for tomorrow's blog post? Are we doing one for the shop grand opening that I should put up or is this just for individuals? hmmm... thoughts?

Right, featured items -- that's what I meant. I'm happy to take that over, if you like. Happy to play with the Favorites too, though that seems less pressing. ;-)

ETA: I think it would be nifty if we did some kind of EART team shop promotion tomorrow, but I can't think of one specifically. Maybe free shipping with a special code?

Love the idea of a shop promotion every monday to go along with Money Saving Mondays. This week maybe some kind of while shop promo of some sort and then as the mondays go on maybe sellers can volunteer to have their own codes for that week if they WANT to, nobody is required to discount anything at all.

I like free shipping and it would not have to come out of the sellers pocket for this first week, maybe we can use a bit of the profit from last weeks shop sale to cover the free shipping promo this week?

I was thinking featured when I said favorites too, like it looks like Michelle did in the previous post event though she caught our earlier misnaming. (It's contagious :-) ) I think it would be great for inspiration to take that on and rotate as often as she feels like it.

I hate to be a wet blanket about promotions, but the mailers for keeping prints safe in transit are pricey. If anyone knows an economical solution, I'd love to hear it.

I didn't know that about mailers for prints. That would make free shipping a bit trickier. Hmmmm. Anybody else have a good idea for a shop wide promotion?

Maybe a percentage off? A free gift (whoever they buy from can decide what the free gift would be)?

I'd be ok for a free gift or a percentage off. My items are so inexpensive, if I pay for shipping it would eat up all profit and more since half goes to the shop! LOL!

I like free gift! Does everyone have something they can offer as a free gift for the promotion? If not we can go with a percentage off -10% or 15% maybe?

I agree, with half going to the shop, I don't really have room for much in the way of promotions. I do understand that for a grand opening, a promo of some type might help generate buzz and hopefully sales so I will do my part. I try to price my things reasonably in the first place so that they are affordable. If I thought that the prices should be 10 or 15% lower, I would lower them rather than having a sale.

I know that people have differing philosophies on sales, etc. so for the grand opening, I will go with the consensus.

For a free gift I could give a free small hair clip, but would be totally cool with 10-15% off!!!!!

How about if we have a promo type of thing that only shops that are interested can participate in.

We do a collage of items from the items in the shop with a title like the EART team shop is open and we're having some excellent sales, check it out. Something along those lines. Then Once indside the shop, the annoucement can have a blurb on who has what to offer:
SALES going on GRAND OPENING WEEK!!!!
Free Hair Clip when you buy from PunkyNMunky (Link to her section of the shop)
Free Lego Ring when you buy from MichellesCHarmWorld (Link to my section of the shop)
10% off your purchase when you buy from FantasticShop (Refund through Paypal after payment)

I like your idea Michelle. As I said, I understand about Grand Openings and will do my part for it. How about a free note card when you buy from EDCCollective?

The sale info will likely make our shop announcement so long that no pictures are will be visible when people come to the shop. There are also different opinions about whether this is a problem or not. For a grand opening sales thing, I think it's probably ok. However, I am a very visual person and when I click on a shop and can't see any changes when I click on different sections, I generally leave that shop without looking, so I hope we can keep a fairly short shop announcement most of the time.

My two cents worth.

WE could keep the announcement short. Something like,

Grand Opening Week! Free gift included with select purchases!

And then whoever is offering a free gift we can edit the title to include "Free Gift with Purchase" or something like that. Would that be any better?

That would be fine too either way works. This will be temporary just until Friday. I too do not like long annoucements, but find it fitting when it's annoucing a sale that is just for a limited time and then it goes back to normal.

The collage can be of everyone in the shop even if they are not participating in the sale. Then we will do it like Wendy suggests and everyone that is giving a free item just adjusts their listings.

You can just write something like check out the Eclectic Artisans Team shop that just opened! And maybe just leave it at that or a brief line mentioning a free gift with some purchases?!

Ok, here's what I put for the team promotion on Money-Saving Monday!


So... Make sure that IF you are participating, you:
1. Put the word PROMO in your shop title (be sure and take it down after)
2. Be aware that buyers need to put the promo word GRANDFREE in notes to seller to get free item
3. You can put verbage in your listing if you want, but I don't think it's necessary with the PROMO in the title

Does this all make sense? I tried to think of the best way for buyers to know which shops are offering a free gift without having to click on every single listing to read the description.

How long are we doing this? Until next Monday or until this Thursday (when the Grand Opening week is over)? or?...

Any other thoughts?

I have updated the team shop announcement to reflect this and changed one of my item listings. I have to go out now, I'll update my other listing later.

Just wrote about the promo on the status update on our Facebook Team Page! I also bumed up the Etsy Forums thread to mention the promo too!
